About Me
Andrej Balco (b.1973, Slovakia) is a renowned photographer whose work undoubtedly carries fine art qualities. According to the author, the common denominator of his works is the effort to search for one's own way of originality. The main theme is for Balco the human and his interaction with the environment in which he lives in. He is interested in searching for individual stories that may be perceived as archetypes of general phenomena.
Apart from documentary, he also deals with the theatre and commercial photography and currently also with old photographic technologies.
His work has been exhibited in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Austria, England, Australia, Belgium, Holland, Finland, Brazil and Japan.
He is a winner of the grant Photodocument.sk and Changing Faces of the international program of IPRN.
Andrej is a co-founder and member of Sputnik Photos collective.
His work is distributed worldwide by Anzenberger Agency.
